Sport climbing as a means to improve health-related physical fitness parameters
Physical fitness (pf) is defined as a state of achievement that relates to the ability to perform physical activity and it contains health and skill related parame-ters. physical fitness’s health-related parameters are car-diovascular endurance (ce), body composition (Bc), muscular strength (MS), muscular endurance (Me) and flexibility.1 These health-related components of pf are known more importantly to public health.2-4 Therefore, they should be the first ones to develop when starting an exercise program.
a number of studies investigated chronic physi-ological effects on pf health-related parameters of different long-term regular physical activity types in sedentary adults. Significant changes in body composition, Vo2max, and strength values were observed after 12 weeks of non-linear resistance training and interval aerobic training programs.5 it is reported that 8 weeks of Swiss ball core strength training improves mus-cular strength and endurance significantly as well as balance.6 in another study, determining the effects of 8 weeks endurance rowing training on sedentary in-
dividuals, a significant effect on Vo2max was found.7 fourie et al.8 observed positive significant differences on body composition values after 8 weeks of mat pi-lates training. another study was on the physiological effects of 12 weeks muscular endurance training on healthy adults, and significant changes were found on body composition, muscular strength and endurance...
